Puberty is the time when your child’s body matures into an adult’s. Puberty generally begins after 7-8 years of age and as late as 13 years in girls. For boys, it begins between 9 and 14 years.Delayed Puberty is when females don’t develop puberty by 13 years and males don’t develop by 14 years

What are the cause of Delayed Puberty?

Some teens are just late bloomers and they start puberty late when compared to their peers of same age. There is no medical condition that is responsible for Delayed Puberty and hence they don’t require any treatment. Other reasons may include:

  • Radiation therapy/ Chemotherapy
  • Bad eating habits
  • Excessive exercise

What are the symptoms of Delayed Puberty?

Typical symptoms of Delayed Puberty are:

  • For girls: Lack of breast development by age 13 and no menstrual cycle by age 16.
  • For boys: No enlargement of testicles by age 14.
How can Delayed Puberty be treated?

Delayed Puberty is treated by diagnosing and treating the underlying cause. Your doctor may even give you hormone therapy for inducing puberty.
