Genu Varum

What is Genu Varum?

Genu Varum, also known as bow legs, is a knee disorder that causes inward bowing of knees while standing, thus giving the look of a bow. In this condition, when a person stands up, his ankles & feet are together but knees are apart. It is most commonly found in all babies since their birth but disappears as baby starts walking and putting his weight on his legs. If the condition persist even after 3.5 years of age, then one requires treatment.

What causes Genu Varum?

The main cause of Genu Varum is rickets or other diseases that doesn’t allow proper ossification of bones. Other causes may include:
