Febrile Seizures are convulsions that occur in children during fever. They mostly happen in children between ages 6 months and 5 years and toddlers 12-18 months are most affected. They last for few minutes & are mostly self limiting. Febrile Seizures are accompanied by fever above 100.4°F.
Febrile Seizures are caused by high body temperature that occurs due to viral infection or less commonly by bacterial infection. It may also occur due to post immunization fever. In some cases, it may also run in families.

Most Febrile Seizures don’t require any treatment and they stop on their own but do consult your paediatrician. If Febrile Seizures last for more than 15 minutes or if your child has repeated seizures, then it as an emergency & hospitalization is required.
